Burglary
I made this film with a focus on the lighting and how to frame different sources of light. The room I filmed this scene in was very small (barely enough space for the camera), therefore, some of the shots were complicated to light up and film. For instance, the wide-angle shot at the end of the film: we had to shoot it with a 14mm lens to get the angle that I wanted, but it lessened the quality of the shot.
I made this film in black and white to accentuate the lighting and its contrasts. It also gives the film a gloomier and more serious atmosphere.

BeReal (documentary)
Our presenter Ellie came up with the subject of a Vice-type ‘insert film’ and questioned if the new ‘revolutionary’ social media app BeReal is really different from other social media (such as Instagram). We were a team of 5 people working on this project; I was the DoP. We worked on the key points and structure of the film altogether and then focused on our roles during the film production phase.
The production went well, besides that we didn’t have any lights for the last two days of filming. We’ve managed to find a way around it and made it work.
Overall, I am happy with the final result of this film, and I – who have never been a fan of creating documentary content – enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

The ribbon on a bridge
It was the first fiction film I have ever made. It was an interesting shooting as it was produced during lockdown. When the second national lockdown was announced, I went home, which changed all my plans for this film. I had to think of the production considering the government health & safety guidelines (i.e. outdoor shoot only) and had to re-arrange the script and storyboard.
I called two of my friends who were happy to help (one actress and one AD), took my camera, and we spent a day in the city shooting. As I didn’t have access to any professional equipment, I used natural light as my main source of light, I filmed with my personal camera, and the sound is the camera-recorded sound.
Even if it is the project with the most restrictions I have worked on, it is the one I enjoyed the most filming.
